Cool Navigating the Twitter Universe
Twitter!  No graphics except for the avatar that says who you are.  Just text.  People "follow" your clips and you "follow" other people's clips.  140 characters max, although some news organizations like to HOG the clips by sending multiples at a time.  You can block them because they are abusing the service.

And that is what B. Candace Beeke, Business Review, writes about in her column on July 9 at MLive.com

It' a great way to move your business networking skills into a whole new dimension.  Take the time, the $ you could achieve are what you might be looking for in your business.  Besides, it's free.  What have you got to loose?

Financial Edition
Sept/Oct 2009
Dear Reader,
Much has taken place over the summer months.  In some circles the economy has a sense of improvement even as larger firms continue with adjustments in their labor force.

Adjustments will always be with us now that tools have been created, tested, and in use in many organizations as information on sales and markets is practically immediate.  It's a different way of life we must all become familiar with as we monitor revenue, expenses, and return on investments to yield profits.  Profits to invest for future opportunities as markets change, profits to return a portion to investors who showed us they had faith in our companies to succeed and funded us accordingly.  Investors may be your family members, the banks, private parties, or even other organizations.  And enough profit left over to put into a rainy day account for other economic changes that affect who we are.

Postal ExplorerMAS Advisory Services, Inc.
Have you ever wondered about all the new rules, sizes, and stuff like that?  If you haven't, you should because if you don't you'll spend more money then need be.  Or, the Postal Service will simply refuse to take whatever it is that you are sending.  Especially critical are new labeling requirements for Customs or how the USPS processes letter-size booklets.

What if you need to do a big mailing and simply do not have the cash flow to support the cost?  They you should check out the "Ship Now, Pay Later" program which USPS offers.

All these new services, new mailing requirements, changes in rates are available to you by clicking on the postage stamp above.

By the way, if you would like a number of 44 cent postage stamps, or any denomination,  identical to the one above, then click here.  Photography by Crystal O'Mara.
MAS Advisory Services, Inc.Cell Phone Etiquette
You are in a meeting discussing your finances with your advisor.  Suddenly, his cell phone blazes a tune to Mozart.  He takes the call, gets up and walks to the other side of the room.

"What the!" you think to yourself.  "Why is his phone more important then my finances.  Do I really want to do business with someone like this?"  Yet, most business people do it to each other more and more.  We do it in the car, distracting our concentration from the road in front of us.  We do it in the movie theaters and literally bother others watching the show.  We do it in restaurants and incite peoples' stares from another table.  We even do it in church, of all places.  Why are we so rude to each other?  Maybe it's time we learned Cell Phone Etiquette!  The rules we live by shape our future not our past.  David Olson speaks to this social trend in his thoughts in the article of the same name in the Business Review (click for article).  Much more has been written on this social rudeness which is available if you cut and paste into the search bar at mlive.com.  There are 64 references which speak directly to the subject.

Urban Legends
Have you recently gotten an email from what you think is a trusted sender?  You would be amazed at the number of educated folks who have a trusting manner about them.  All because the line of work they do is trust worthy in their nature.  So, why wouldn't anyone they know also be trusting?

At issue here is not whether someone is trustworthy.  What is the issue is that it goes back to the old axiom that you simply cannot believe everything you read, regardless of how real it is.  Many people have hidden agendas and they tend to go along with the gag until they find out they've been duped by an urban legend.  How do we protect ourselves from being as gullible as others?  Take a moment and research it before passing it on to those that trust you.  Check out the rumor, legends, gossip and other well intentioned email at snopes.com.  If there is no reference on snopes.com, it may be one of the newer legends.  Send and email to snopes.com and ask them the question - use something from the email you got so they can track it down.  You'll get a response within a day or two telling you if it is true or false or something in the middle.

Can't remember the address, You'll find it in the Info Center.  Or, key words Urban Legend into Google.  Lots of sites in virtual space which speaks to this subject.  And, remember your audience is expecting you to provide them with trust worthy information and advice, not rumors.
